Prof. Moshe Amirav: "Jerusalem Syndrome" The Palestinian-Israeli Battle for the Holy City Video Link
MediaCentral is pleased to invite members of the foreign press to the launch of a new book by Prof. Moshe Amirav:

"Jerusalem Syndrome"
The Palestinian-Israeli Battle for the Holy Cit

One of the more complex, controversial and challenging aspects of the situation in the Middle East is the status of Jerusalem.  What does the future hold for the holy city?  Prof. Moshe Amirav addresses this and many more issues in his new book; join us for a fascinating briefing on Tuesday July 21st at 11:00am at MediaCentral, 8 Harav Kook St., Jerusalem.

Prof. Moshe Amirav writes from the unique perspective of someone who:
  • was a paratrooper fighting in Jerusalem and was injured in the 6-Days War;
  • worked closely with the well-known mayor of Jerusalem, Teddy Kollek, in planning and development of Jerusalem;
  • initiated talks with Faisal Husseini and worked out the Amirav-Husseini plan that became the model for subsequent peace talks;
  • is the head of the School of Government at Beit Berl College and teaches Political Science at Hebrew University;
  • advised Prime Minister Ehud Barak during the Camp David negotiations;
  • is an internationally acclaimed speaker and author on the subject of Jerusalem.

Jerusalem Syndrome presents previously unrevealed information, proposes creative solutions for resolving the conflict, and addresses disturbing questions, including:

  • How is it that after 40 years of Israeli efforts to unify Jerusalem, it is still one of the most divided cities in the world?
  • Why is it that no country, including the US, has recognized Jerusalem as the capital of Israel?
  • Why has Israel failed in its efforts to curb the rapid growth of Jerusalem's Palestinian population, an increase that could lead to a Palestinian majority in Jerusalem in the next decade?
