Tour: New Archaeological Discoveries in Jerusalem - 9am - 1pm
Jerusalem offers archaeologists new insights into the past as one of the world's oldest cities. In the last few years, excavations around the City of David have revealed what experts say are some of the most exciting finds from Biblical times. Among the sites we will visit is a road from the Second Temple era: the stepped street was discovered at a distance of 550 meters south of the Temple Mount and served as a main thoroughfare of Jerusalem ascending from the north-west corner of the Second Temple Shiloach Pool to the north. Excavations have revealed an impressive architectural complex that includes massive foundations as well as great walls and halls that are preserved to a height of at least two stories; a basement level covered with vaults; remains of polychrome frescoes, water installations and ritual baths.
