Tel Aviv is a well known international destination for gay tourism. Last year’s annual Gay Pride Parade attracted over 200,000 people from all over the world, and even more people are expected to attend the parade this Friday. For the first time at an Israeli parade, the British embassy is organizing a parade float. The British ambassador and his life partner intend the parade float to be kid friendly and focused on gay families. As the gay pride movement is getting older, families and kids become increasingly relevant and gay parents are increasingly turning to alternative methods to raise a family. Prospective fathers face significant barriers when trying to create a family.
In anticipation of Tel Aviv’s Gay Pride Parade, the MediaCentral tour met:
Udi Ledergor, Chairman of The Association of Israeli Gay Fathers, an organization that helps fathers parent children through alternative methods including surrogacy, adoption and joint parenting.
Erez Baron, Country Manager at Oregon Reproductive Medicine, an international surrogate fertility center. After working for years business and high-tech and business development, Erez switched careers and is the surrogate father of twins.
Asaf Ashkenazi, proud father, and owner of Shpagat, a renowned gay bar.
