The Regulation Bill, which passed on the 6th of February, is designated to maintaining the status of Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria, in order to handle cases where houses were built beyond the 1949 armistice line, also known as the Green Line, on private Palestinian land. The initiators of the law seek to instate a mechanism that would give monetary compensation to settlers, instead of implementing forced evacuations.
MC and the IDI were pleased to cooperate and organize a conference call with Prof. Yuval Shany, who discussed the Regulation Bill and talked about its ramifications. Shany is a specialist in Public International Law, Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, former Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Hebrew University. In 2012 he was elected as a member of the UN Human Rights committee.
