Thousands of Christian pilgrims from around the world flock to Bethlehem each Christmas for midnight mass at the Church of the Nativity and events in Manger Square. Three Christian denominations – the Armenians, Roman Catholics and Greek Orthodox – share control of the church.
The tour in Bethlehem dealt with the conditions of Christians in the Holy Land and the reasons why they are leaving the Palestinian Authority. We met with a Christian man who has decided to emigrate, with officials and Christian leaders, visited Crèche Holy Family Children’s Home, which hosts orphaned and abandoned children and had a unique opportunity to speak with some of the children, and saw how they are preparing for Christmas.
