The Security Cabinet has officially banned the northern branch of the Islamic Movement charging it with inciting violence among Arab Israeli citizens and Palestinians, making it illegal for any individual or group to associate with the organization.
Police have raided more than a dozen of the group’s offices taking computers, files and monies. Authorities also froze bank accounts and said that 17 organizations affiliated with the movement have been served with orders to shut down.
Dr. Mordechai Kedar served for 25 years with the IDF intelligence corps. He is a specialist on the Islamic movement and will discuss the timing and the implications of this ban in light of the current wave of incitement and violence.
