Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas has promised a “bombshell” in his upcoming address to the UN General Assembly in New York at the end of September. Abbas and senior Palestinian officials are talking about a “surprise” – sparking speculation about the leader’s plans to retire and who would succeed him. Abbas has served 11 years as president of the PA.
Ashraf Ajrami, is a former minister of prisoners affairs in the Palestinian Authority. He will address current Palestinian political and diplomatic developments including what to expect from Abbas at the UN General Assembly.
Ajrami also worked at the PA Information Ministry as director of Israeli affairs and later became deputy director of the foreign media department.
