The Jerusalem synagogue attack, the most recent in the wave of terror attacks, brought to light the possible rise of a third Intifada (uprising). The latest surge of terror in Jerusalem has been the most intense in the last few years. Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu blamed Palestinian Authority President, Mahmoud Abbas, for incitement and responsible for the current attacks against Israeli Jews. However, some Israeli officials, such as, Yoram Coheh, head of the Shabak, minimizes Abbas’ role in the recent terror attacks.
Some security experts have noted that Palestinian terrorists are copying ISIS terror tactics. The team of experts at INSS will address these concerns and how incitement both on the ground and in the new media are influencing the Palestinian community. Furthermore, the INSS will address the causes of the ongoing escalation and how to strategically and diplomatically subside the violence.
The panel included:
Udi Dekel – Managing Director of INSS and expert on Middle East regional dynamics and processes.
Yoram Schweitzer – head of the INSS Program on Terrorism and Low Intensity Conflict and expert on international terrorism.
Orit Perlov – expert on Arab social media.
