50th Anniversary of the Six-Day War: Historic Jerusalem Profiles

May 17, 2017PAST EVENT

The 50th anniversary of the Six Day War on June 5 will mark Israel’s reunification of Jerusalem after 19 years of the city being divided.

The war also redrew regional borders which are still contested, and the global political debate is lived out by the communities within Jerusalem’s four quarters. For this historic occasion, MediaCentral will visit the Old City of Jerusalem and meet the four communities; Jewish, Armenian, Christian, and Muslim.

The Walking Tour will included:

Established Muslim Khalidi family who own a historic library containing the largest collection of private manuscripts in Jerusalem

Knowledgeable Armenian shop owner whose family lived in Jerusalem for over a century

Prominent Jewish family who are rooted in the Old City since the 1830s

Historic Christian family who lived in Jerusalem over a century and own an art gallery portraying over 200 years of Old City life
