This June Israel will commemorate the 50th anniversary to the Six-Day War, one of the most significant events in its history. The war led to the capture of the territories and the development of the settler movement, which now encompasses more than half a million Israeli citizens. The tour took place at the Binyamin regional council, where we will explore the various components of the settlers’ human mosaic. Binyamin is not only Israel’s largest regional council, but also has a religiously unique community composition – a third Haredi, a third secular and a third national religious. Each interviewee in the tour represents a group of people who moved to the settlements at a certain period of time in the history of Israel.
The tour included meetings with:
National religious family from Eli (founders generation)
Secular couple from a secluded ecological settlement who built their own farm (1980s)
Haredi family (1980s)
Russian immigrants (1990s)
Religious French immigrant (new immigrants)
