Alternative Holocaust Commemorations with Founder of ‘Zikaron Basalon’ and Sarah Guttman, German-born Survivor

May 3, 2016PAST EVENT

Zikaron Basalon (Living Room Memories) encourages the younger generation to organize events marking Holocaust Day in a way that is more meaningful to them and their communities.  The project was established in 2011 by young people who initiated meetings with Holocaust survivors in a more intimate setting – usually in someone’s living room.  Since the initiative began, thousands of these evenings have been held in private homes around the country, and throughout the world.

Sarah Guttman was born in 1936 in Dortmund, Germany, and survived the Holocaust through an amazing journey around Europe, Cuba, U.S and Israel. Ms. Guttman will be telling her story and talking about the importance of this initiative for her.

Nadav Embon founded Zikaron Basalon with his wife in 2011. He has been coordinating and organizing the events ever since.
