Belgium, Turkey and France are the latest targets of ISIS terror which continues to expand its deadly global reach. However, some international military officials argue that the terror organization is steadily losing ground, especially in Iraq and Syria. Nonetheless, Europe and the entire world are tightening security and defense measures in light of escalating deadly threats from radical Islamic groups.
Israel is monitoring the regional threats from ISIS, Al Qaida and others, extending from Syria to the Sinai including the Palestinian territories. Despite reports that organizations like ISIS and Al Qaeda may be losing steam, Israel’s counter terror establishment is monitoring the situation in the region very closely regarding them as not only regional but national threats as well.
Dr. Anat Hochberg-Marom will discuss the threat presented by the Islamic State and what this means for Israel and the region. Dr. Hochberg-Marom is a leading expert on global terrorism and political-marketing and framing of global terrorist organizations. She also serves as a strategic consultant to government agencies and security institutions and as a lecturer and researcher at the Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya (IDC).
