Six years after Syria’s civil war began there are over five hundred thousand killed and millions of refugees and internally displaced people. Russia, the Trump administration, and Jordan recently brokered a ceasefire which has deescalated the fighting in recent weeks in three newly established “safe zones” in southwestern Syria.
At the upcoming meeting between Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Putin, Syria is expected to be discussed. They are expected to discuss Israel’s red lines, Iran’s proxy’s presence on its border, and strategic regional issues. The briefing will discuss the political future of Syria, the current humanitarian and strategic situation, the proposed Golan Peace Initiative, and its effects on the region.
