March 28, 2016PAST EVENT

The shooting of the wounded Palestinian terrorist in Hebron on Thursday (24/3), sparked controversy after a video of the incident surfaced online. The soldier has been detained and an investigation opened. The soldier’s family has claimed that he has been lynched by the Israeli media while Israeli politicians are conflicted on the support the soldier should receive from the state. Meanwhile, spontaneous civilian demonstrations around the country and a social media campaign have called for the immediate release of the soldier.

MK Elazar Stern will talk about the IDF’s rules of engagement and whether the IDF still maintains its ethical code. He will analyze the incident and discuss the challenges faced by the IDF soldiers stationed within a hostile population.

MK Elazar Stern is an Israeli politician from the Yesh Atid party, who also served as the Head of the IDF’s Manpower Directorate and as its Chief Education Officer.
