Walter Bingham, born Wolfgang Billig, recepient of the Guinness World Record for the oldest radio talk show host at the age of 93, was not always a journalist. Currently 93, he grew up in Germany as the Nazis were rising to power. He witnessed Nazi book burnings before escaping to England on the Kindertransport, where he lived in a kibbutz-type community. Later he joined the war effort, taking part in the D-Day landings at Normandy. He interviewed Nazi Foreign Minister Joachim von Ribbentrop. He later earned the Military Medal for bravery in the field.
