Post-Elections Politics and Analysis

March 18, 2015PAST EVENT

Election precincts close at 10 pm, after which a frenzy of exit polls provide the media with fodder for their predictions on the outcome.

By the next morning, sufficient official results are publicized to begin to draw reasonable conclusions.  But it’s still a bit confusing – which parties may combine with which?  Which parties will recommend to President Rivlin that Netanyahu form the next government, and which will throw their support behind Herzog (or others)?

Professor Gideon Rahat, senior lecturer in political science at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and director of the Israel Democracy Institute’s political reform project, will help us interpret the election results and evaluate possible scenarios for forming the next government and Knesset.

Prof. Rahat’s presentation (in Hebrew) can be found here.
