MC was pleased to invite the journalists on a tour on the topic of Israel as a “water superpower”. According to recent publications, Israel, a country developing innovative desalination technologies, is the only country in the world that exports water despite the fact that it suffers from a water shortage. The tour consisted of two parts:
* An exclusive visit to the IDE desalination facility in Sorek & interviews with IDE officials. IDE is considered a world leader in water treatment solutions and just last year inaugurated a one billion dollar desalination plant in California.
* A visit to the Desert Research Institute of Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, that engages in technologies which contribute to the development of deserts around the globe. The institute proposes a new approach to tackling the challenges of sustainable development of drylands. It is comprised of three internationally recognized research institutes from France, Switzerland and the US. The visit will be led by Dr. Edo Bar Zeeva, a senior lecturer at the Zuckerberg Institute for Water Research, Ben-Gurion University. Dr. Bar Zeev is one of the leading researchers in Water-Technology-Microbiology.
